Limits on shipping and handling charges for select categories

Starting in October, limits on shipping and handling charges* will be in effect for select categories. These maximums apply to the first flat-rate shipping service within or into the U.S. Sellers are required to offer at least one shipping option within the maximum and may also offer other options above the maximums for expedited or international shipping. Sellers can still use the shipping calculator to charge actual costs at or below the maximums or if their listings are not standard — e.g., if you’re selling an unusual large/ or heavy item, or a bundle-you can also use the shipping calculator to charge actual costs.

Ebay News: Bid Assistant To Be Removed

As part of the ongoing efforts to simplify the site and remove features that have very low usage, eBay will be removing the Bid Assistant tool (which allowed buyers to bid on multiple similar items in succession) in the next few weeks.

The removal plan
Starting in late September, the links to Bid Assistant will be removed from item pages and from My eBay, and buyers will no longer be able to create new groups of items within the tool. If you have used the Bid Assistant tool recently, or will be using it in late September, here is how you will be affected:

If you have an active Bid Assistant group in late September: You will still see the link to Bid Assistant in My eBay, and will be able to view your groups of items within the tool. The Bid Assistant tool will also continue to bid on the items within each group as scheduled. However, you will not be able to add or remove items from a group, or alter your maximum bids. Since these groups will essentially be “locked” by late September, please make sure that you do not change anything within your Bid Assistant groups beforehand.
If you have a closed Bid Assistant group in late September: You will still be able to view your closed groups via the link in My eBay.

The Bid Assistant tool will then be removed from the site entirely in late September.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently issued a recall for the following items:

-Circo children’s bobby socks recalled due to choking hazard
-Optave Inc. baby carriers recalled due to fall hazard
-Benjamin International recalls Fairy Dust pendants and candle charms due to risk of lead exposure

CPSC also has issued a consumer alert urging parents and caregivers to stop using convertible “close-sleeper/bedside sleeper” bassinets manufactured by Simplicity Inc.
